PHOTO SHORT - NIGHTJAR
I was really fortunate this summer to stumble across a female nightjar on eggs, also she had chosen a location which I could easily photograph and document without the fear of disturbing her or her chicks
nightjars are so hard to spot, especially in daylight and they are my favourite species of bird with their cryptic plumage which I think makes them look a little reptilian, I think of them as the flying reptiles of heathland and it was a privilege to watch her successfully raise two young
